Museum Education

Kode’s department for education includes art historians, music scholars, pedagogues and artists.

We disseminate visual art, handicraft and design at the four art museums and music and music history in the three composers’ homes Troldhaugen, Lysøen and Siljustøl.

About our work

We offer dissemination at every exhibition through tours, workshops, concerts, lectures and other events. We develop audio-guides for adults and children, in addition to catalogue content, activity booklets, wall texts and digital content.

For schools and kindergartens, we produce dissemination experiences tailored for the different age levels and their curriculum. We also have programmes for the upper secondary, university and college levels. Tours and workshops are led by art historians, artists and other professionals at the department.

Our methods

Our programmes for schools and kindergartens focus on dialogue and participation, and we frequently organize workshops related to the themes of the exhibitions.

In our guided tours we apply pedagogical methods like philosophical conversations, group work, drama and different story telling techniques. We also include different sensory tasks and objects for tactile use in the dissemination situation. Different types of writing, contemplation and drawing tasks and music are also part of the programme.

What we emphasize

Kode’s dissemination activities emphasize quality, relevance and diversity. We work continually with developing varied and inclusive dissemination methods that allow for dialogue, exploration and reflection.
