Curator's talk: Harriet Backer
Every atom is colour
Welcome to a curator’s talk in connection with the exhibition “Harriet Backer: Every atom is colour”!
Harriet Backer (1845–1932) is one of the most significant Norwegian artists in history and a pioneer among female artists in Europe. The exhibition “Harriet Backer: Every Atom is Color” explores her artistic legacy through a wide selection of paintings. It delves into Backer's life, artistic development, and societal position during a time of radical changes in women's rights.
In this conversation between the exhibition’s curators, Tove Haugsbo (Kode) and Vibeke Waallann Hansen (The National Museum), Backer’s artistic contributions and impact will be discussed. The talk will also touch on the exhibition's tour and reception in Stockholm and Paris.
The discussion will be moderated by educator Helga Anspach (Kode).
