Buy ticketStar soprano Elisabeth Teige from Ålesund is one of the most interesting dramatic sopranos in Europe. She is known for her warm, beautiful timbre, intuitive musicianship and stage presence.
In 2022, she made her debut at the Bayreuther Festspiele as Senta in Der fliegende Holländer, which was a great success. She will return to the Wagner Festival in the summer of 2023 as both Senta and Elisabeth in Tannhäuser.
Teige performs together with the Danish pianist Ulrich Stærk, who belongs to the elite among Scandinavian pianists with well over 150 concerts a year at home and abroad.
Together, the two perform Richard Wagner's passionate and beautiful Wesendonck-Lieder together with several well-known and beloved arias.
Wesendonck-Lieder is a song cycle consisting of five songs with lyrics by Mathilde Wesendonck (1828–1902). The composer set Wesendonck's poem to music in 1857 and 1858, and it is believed that Wagner had a love affair with the poet at the same time.
