Music by Backer Grøndahl will be part of the program at Kode's composer home's regularly over the next few years.
This Sunday, soprano Lydia Hoen Tjore and pianist Christian Grøvlen performs the songs from "Barnets Vaardag" op. 42. We also get to hear her "10 Fantasistykker", op. 39.
In "Barnets vårdag", we hear Backer Grøndahl as a masterful, poetic and virtuoso composer of songs. The ten pieces "Fantasistykker" are passionate and moving and point to the French Impressionism long before it blossomed.
About the artists
Lydia Hoen Tjore was born and raised on Radøy and educated at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory and the Opera Academy in Copenhagen. Hoen Tjore has been a trainee soloist at the Norwegian Opera for two seasons. In 2021, she was a finalist in two international music competitions, the Vinceró World Singing Competition and Queen Sonja's International Music Competition. In the latter, she won the Ingrid Bjoner prize. Hoen Tjore now works as a freelancer and was recently seen as Violetta in La Traviata at Opera Nordfjord and Micaela in Carmen at Opera Rogaland.
Christian Grøvlen is the director of Kode's composer homes and an active performing pianist. Grøvlen made his debut with The Norwegian Radio Orchestra in 2019 and with The Norwegian National Opera Orchestra in 2020. Grøvlen is the recipient of the Robert Levin Prize, the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize and the Statens Kunstnerstipend.

The concert ticket includes entrance to the Troldhaugen museum and Nina and Edvard Grieg's villa.
The museum is open and offer guided tours of the villa, free outdoor audio guide, open café and exhibition.
