Amidst the evocative paintings of Harriet Backer, Hehku Trio presents the world premiere of Anna Berg’s newly composed piece, Evigt. Created specifically for the trio, the work is inspired by a poem by Pär Lagerkvist (1891–1974), filling the space with modern harmonies and poetic nuances.

The program also features contemporary compositions by Wolfgang Plagge (1960–) and Frederik Zeuthen (1996–), both inspired by the poetry of the modernist pioneer Edith Södergran (1892–1923).

As part of the rich musical journey, the program features works spanning over 400 years—from Barbara Strozzi (1619–77) and Agathe Backer Grøndahl (1847–1907) to Kaija Saariaho (1952–2023). The concert highlights powerful artistic voices who dared to follow their visions, often defying the expectations of their time.

Welcome to an experience where history, poetry, and music intertwine within Kode’s unique setting!

Hehku is a Nordic Ensemble and Artist Collective working to commission contemporary pieces, while also championing silenced voices from the historical repertoire. Founded by conductor Aliisa Neige Barrière and mezzo soprano Christina af Klinteberg Herresthal in 2021, the full ensemble consists of conductor (Barrière), mezzo (Herresthal), violin (Isabelle Bania), viola (Michael Grolid), cello (Theodor Lyngstad), harp (Claire Moncharmont) and flute (Kaja Marie Andersen), but frequently performs in smaller settings as well. The name Hehku derives from Finnish and means "glow", "gleaming" and "aflame", which mirrors the purpose of the ensemble; creating musical experiences colored by spark, light and vitality.
