Sunday 7 May, at 1 p.m.:
Cellist Sandra Lied Haga and pianist Katya Apekisheva launch a new record at Troldhaugen!
The program is entirely French, consisting of works written by the composers César Franck and Rita Strohl.
Buy ticketCésar Franck (1820-1890) was among the leading romantic composers in France. At a time when opera was dominant, he distinguished himself by focusing on instrumental music. His works are characterized by an expressive harmonic.
The composer and pianist Rita Strohl (1865-1941), on the other hand, is less well known. She composed chamber music, symphonic and lyrical works, as well as a number of romances. The music is expressive, lyrical and melodic.
Strohl was a highly regarded composer in her day, but after her death she was largely forgotten. In recent years, however, her music has gained increased interest, and in particular her sonata for cello and piano "Titus et Bérénice" is in a special position. We will hear exactly this during the launch concert.
