Meet the artists
Meet the artists: Anna Berg
This year's house composer at Kode is Anna Berg. In this film, we get to visit her own composer’s home in Opphus, Østerdalen, where she experienced finding a completely new place for herself and the music she creates.
Kode’s Composer in Residence for 2025
This year’s Composer in Residence at Kode is Anna Linh Nguyen Berg (b. 1992) from Kolbotn.
“Anna Berg is a significant young artist with a unique musical identity. She is also an engaging communicator and a strong voice for music today. Berg has much to contribute to the Composer in Residence project, and we are excited to have her,” says Christian Grøvlen, Director of Music and Composer Homes at Kode.
Berg is regularly featured on the European contemporary art scene and is a versatile composer who writes for all kinds of ensembles, including film, dance, and theater. She recently composed the score for Drømmer (2024) by director Dag Johan Haugerud and appeared as an actress in Haugerud’s film Kjærlighet (2024), where she plays herself.
Commissioned Work to Premiere in Grieghallen in November
Throughout the year, Berg will shape Kode’s program with concerts and events. She will also compose a commissioned work for Kode, which will premiere in Bergen in November, performed by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
“I look forward to collaborating with the museum to create exciting meeting places for the audience throughout the year,” says Anna Berg.
“In my music, I often draw inspiration from timeless themes such as life and death, as well as rituals from various cultures, including Vietnam, where my father is from. With my music, I hope to create a space for reflection, allowing the listener room for other, perhaps entirely new, thoughts about the larger connections in life,” says Berg.
