KunstLab - the Children's Art Museum is KODE's Art Museum for children, located on the ground floor in KODE 4. This is the first art museum especially designed for children in Norway, and it includes a specially designed laboratory where children are are free to explore the world of art through play and experimentation. The current exhibition in KunstLab is Dream Dust. The exhibition invites you to enter a universe of dreams through encountering a selection of illustrations from contemporary Norwegian picture books.
On the ground floor you will also find a large presentation of paintings and paperworks by the Norwegian artist Nikolai Astrup, one of Norway’s most beloved artists.
The first and second floor presents the core of the museums´s collections ranging from 14th century icons to Norwegian and international Modernism. Major currents in European Modernism Movements in the 20th century can be explored in the second floor. The Tower room on the second floor presents temporary exhibitions, from November 15 the exhibition Henrik Håkansson. A Hundred Pieces of a Tree (Norwegian Woods) and in the east wing of the second floor, the exhibition Drømmen om fellesskapet (A Dream of Community) from November 22.

The architects of this museum building were Fredrik Arnesen and Arthur Darre Kaarbø. In 1938 it opened as an administration building for the electrical powerplant company. In 2003 it was restored and opened as a museum.
